About Us!

If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing.

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. For we know in part and we prophesy in part, but when completeness comes, what is in part disappears. When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put the ways of childhood behind me. For now we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.

And now these three remain, faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.

OUR HISTORY

The first chapter of Kappa Alpha Theta was founded on January 27, 1870, at Indiana Asbury University, now known as DePauw University, in Greencastle, Indiana. Although the university began admitting women in 1867 after three decades as an all-male institution, female students were still excluded from existing clubs and societies. In response, four pioneering women created the first Greek-letter fraternity for women. These founders were Elizabeth McReynolds Locke Hamilton (Bettie Locke), Alice Olive Allen Brant (Alice Allen), Elizabeth Tipton Lindsey (Bettie Tipton), and Hannah Virginia Fitch Shaw (Hannah Fitch).  Kappa Alpha Theta has more than 143 active college chapters and more than 212 alumnae chapters across the United States and Canada.

The Gamma Omega chapter of Kappa Alpha Theta was founded here at Auburn in 1957. We hold our history very close to our heart, and it is something we are very proud of!

There's Something About Theta

There's something special about a person who makes you feel good without even trying.

There's something magical about a smile that talks.

There's a lingering warmth in laughter that comes so easily That nothing else seems to matter.

The ability to touch people without having to reach out- A simple understanding between friends.

So wherever we go and whatever we do

Let us live with this remembrance in our hearts… That we are family.

As we have been yesterday and today to each other, may we be so blessed in all of out tomorrows.

For we are a family, and that means love that has no end.

A family in which, when you least expect it, the most meaningful and memorable moments arrive.

A family that can always make you laugh, A family that will always let you cry.

A family that will let you become all that you can be simply by standing beside you

Very rarely do you get to pick your family but we are very lucky to have found ours.

So when we look back on the times we shared, We can smile and say,

"I was at my best when I was with those people."
